I have to agree with the one reviewer who said it was too buttery. The texture was good however. I think Katy Brown was right when she said that the best brownies come from a box mix. I have not had a better brownie than Ghiardelli boxed brownie mix.

I make this recipe every year and just love it! This year I decorated the top festive leaves with my william sonoma pie crust cutter. I highly recommend purchasing one! It looked like a piece of art! It went quickly as usual and everyone raved...also very usual! :)

This is a good apple pie but did add about a quarter cup of water to the syrup mixture as it did thicken too much. As with every recipe it is all about a matter of personal taste and I would have added spices to the mixture. Unlike other reviewers I did not have a problem with a soggy bottom crust or it being to sweet or tart. I think a cook really has to adjust the measurements themselves based on the end result of they syrup mixture. If it is too thick to pour, just add water until it thins out a bit. I am only giving this 4 stars as I feel it did need some spice, but the recipe is a very good one otherwise.
