About this Cook
I am a professional mother of two wonderful children. I have a crazy sense of humor and I love to bake. I love scrapbooking (wonderful papers), crafts and writing to friends via snail mail. It's great receiving mail that doesn't have a due by date! I enjoy reading recipe books, exchanging recipes and planning parties. I think I'll get married again so I can plan a big party. And, most importantly, I love to talk.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook is Chinese dishes. The go fast and taste wonderful. You can add what you want and still won't be tired form all the cooking. My passion is truly for desserts. Life’s too sweet not to have some treats!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite traditions are making my daughter's birthday cake. Every year we add another layer. It looks like a large wedding cake but with a ton of goodies on it. Everyone come to see how big it is each year and how much candy! I also make up new cookie recipes each year for my son who’s in college. We bake cookies every New Years day at my house, eat a few and always have save enough for goodies bags for all who may visit.
My cooking triumphs
One of my greatest triumphs is giving my daughter the love of cooking and baking at an early age. At the rate that she’s going, she should be a professional chef by the times she's 10! She loves making and tasting new foods but we haven't quite conquered the messy hands yet.
My cooking tragedies
I made my first wedding cake for a coworker that I forgot to level!! Lets just say, it wasn't my finest work! It kind of reminded you of a small roller coaster and I almost cried when I looked at it at the reception. I stopped when I realized it was the best thing there!! They served boloney as one of the meats!! I still laugh when I think of that. Today, I always level before I start any cake.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins
Great recipe and quite easy to make. A few easy suggestions, prepare the crumb topping before you start the muffins and add a little bit of lemon zest to the batter(if making blueberry). Also, almost any type of fruit works well. My favorite (besides blueberry) was mandarin orange. Just drain well and cut in half before mixing in batter.

Kentucky Butter Cake
Finally, a great recipe that I found online that tastes great. It also doubles well and tastes even better w/a bit of lemon zest added to the batter.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
Not bad, not bad at all. I would use light brown sugar and a tad more vanilla to them. As one review stated, They became hard after cooling, true. Cut down on the cooking time by a few minutes and that should do the trick. I added some coconut and toffee pieces to them and that really upped the favor a lot. Also, I use milk chocolate pieces instead of the semi, cut down the chips by 1/2 cup and didin't make to big either.
