About this Cook
I am Bangladeshi-American(Indian). My willingness to cook came when probably like many other Indian girls raised here but married abroad, hubby would only want to eat Indian. I wanted to eat different cuisines but didn't want to dine without my husband. Now I love to cook and bake. My husband and kids don't want to be my guinea pigs anymore. Now I've recruited siblings, their kids and their friends, my friends and their kids as tasters.
My favorite things to cook
Seafood. It offers a great variety.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Very Indian with some Italian. Thai and Mexican are very close contenders.
My cooking triumphs
very time a dish comes out is a triumph for me. But FLAN is the absolute best. After many many years and failures I've finally masterd it.
My cooking tragedies
I have many. Most recent is creamy asparagus soup. I read many recipes but didn't find exactly what I was looking for so I decided to combine some of the ideas and add my own. Everything was wonderful, the smell in the kitchen was very aromatic. Then I added milk and cheese to the soup. The cheese made the milk curdle into ricotta. When I tried to reduce volume by boiling the soup the ricotta toughened. It went into the garbage disposal.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili
I had to make adjustment on the ingredients according to what was in the pantry. I used fresh green chile peppers (seeded). Didn't have oregano so used Italian seasoning mix. No jalapeno. Had boiled ground chicken. All in all it was very good. Thank you for the recipe.

Nutty Popcorn Party Mix
OMG. That's how good this is. I didn't have macadamia so I just used extra peanuts (salted) and almonds. I wish I had read the reviews before mixing. The unpopped kernels are a nuisance. Otherwise very very yummy. I'm taking some to my girlfriends house tonight. Maybe. If I can stop eating it. Thanks for the recipe.

Bengali 5-Spice
This is great. very fragrant. I use it in lot of my vegetable and lentil dishes. Kalonji is caraway seeds which will provide the authentic Indian smell.
