About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Any asian inspired food, Roasted veggies, Any dinner for family or friends.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmothers old german recipes that I can't spell wrong: Fleisch Keichla and struedel especially. My fathers roasted chicken - because everything is better covered in bacon. Crepes for breakfast sunday morning filled with scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon or butter and sugar.
My cooking triumphs
Every new recipe that turns out well feels like a small triumph. I have mastered my roasted chicken by combining a recipe from a Williams & Sonoma cookbook with my father's recipe. I make an amazing cherry cobbler. Give me a recipe and good tools and I feel pretty confident that I can cook it.
My cooking tragedies
First meal I made my husband: steak and rice. Old steak that had been thawed and refrozen a few times, I had no salt or pepper, just oregano to season it. I put in too much water in the rice cooker and it ended up like bland soup. We had no soy sauce. It was horrible! Oh and the Easter that I had 15 people over and I tried putting potato peels down the garbage disposal and flooded the kitchen.
