i LOVE to EAT! so therefore I love to cook. But most of all, i love to cook bcuz i like to know what Im eating. I try to eat healthy foods everyday (notice i said "try" lol). I look at the fat content on everything I buy & get fat-free if its available: butter, milk, cheese, sour cream, mayo, campbells soups.. I eat baked chips, and whole wheat carbs only. Its a little obsessive, but I hate working out, so this keeps me lean. Im a huge "hungry girl" and Jillian Michaels fan (hungrygirl.com-SUBSCRIBE! & Jillian's book "Master your Metabolism" is a must-read).
My favorite things to cook
Korean foods handsdown bcuz im half Korean.
I have a sweet tooth, and Im obsessed with this low-fat chocolate cake recipe by "hungry girl"... here it is, you HAVE to try it! I made it on Thanksgiving just bcuz I had an excuse to, and everyone was crazy about it! Friends were coming by the next day wanting more! lol
INGREDIENTS: a box of Devils Food Cake, a can of pumpkin, and a few splashes of fat-free milk. Mix, and bake in a greased pan (i use a 9" square) @ 400 degrees, 25 mins.
I also top it with the lowest fat chocolate frosting I can find (Pillsbury/Duncan Hines Milk Chocolate at 4.5g/2 tbsp) and microwave each slice b4 eating for 35 seconds, and OMG u will swear ur in Heaven!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's broccoli casserole at Christmastime-- she makes it every Christmas & Christmas wouldnt be the same without it! I also love it when we make "kim bop" together.
Kim bop is a Korean dish. It looks like sushi rolls but theres no raw fish in it. Its filled with "Bulgogi" (Korean marinated beef), rice, fried egg, carrots, spinach, pickled radish (yellow kind- "dah-kwang"), & fried fish cakes (frozen section at Asian store). Its an all-day project, and its so much fun.
My cooking triumphs
Eating my delicious creation, and sharing it w/others!
My cooking tragedies
I never measure anything, and modify recipes drastically to my liking and what I have on-hand. Sometimes it turns out GREAT, other, ehhh not so much. Ill always eat it/try it the first day, but sometimes I have whole dishes just sit in the fridge til it rots lol.
Getting better tho! Learning w/experience!
