A vegetarian with an apparent knack for cooking (I credit my natural Southern culinary talents and being raised by my mother and grandmother) who cooks for himself and his rather non-vegetarian girlfriend. Fun times ensue. Most all my recipes are flexible and the times/amounts are not exact. Like my grandmother, I cook by smell and taste. We "know" when it's right.
I try to make recipes that are quick, simple, and will last a couple for multiple meals. I hate nothing more than to plan to cook something that sounds so wonderful, only to get off the train and realize that I had to prepare things the night before. Recipes need warning labels...
My favorite things to cook
Vegetables! Anything people enjoy.
My cooking triumphs
Stuffed bell peppers, stuffed mushrooms, stir fry my girlfriend cannot get enough of (despite it being my easiest dish), eggplant Parmesan, fried okra, etc.
My cooking tragedies
I regularly set off the smoke alarm in our townhouse. These Maryland houses do not like a Southern boy frying things. :(
