About this Cook
Married with 3 teens and only my son loves to cook like I do. My oldest dtr can barely get by and the middle dtr will try every now and then. I have always loved to cook since I was little. I had 2 wonderful grandmas that taught me most of what I know. My mother took classes at Antoinette Pope in Chicago though you wouldn't know it =). I own a little over 100 cookbooks - wish I had more time.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and cook Italian foods. I will tackle just about anything. When I was 19 I had my own cake business, I was big into Wilton and cake pans. Taught myself.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Ah my mothers spagetti gravy recipe. At holidays, you always have the pasta first and it had to be her gravy. Kolatches were a must at every Christmas gathering.
My cooking triumphs
Definately would have to be a wedding cake for 200 people!
My cooking tragedies
This is too easy. I made a cake when I was 9 yrs old for my father. He loved coconut, so I used an entire bag and tinted it and put it on top. Dad ate the whole thing, later revealing how overwhelming all of that coconut was!

Buttery Cranberry Pie
It was good however, every subsequent bite I felt as if I was tasting more and more lemon juice. I think I'll cut the juice down and try it that way. Everyone gobbled it up however.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
Wonderful!! A little too much pepper for my family. I didn't have ham but did have lunchmeat ham that I chopped and it worked just as well! Will make again because my husband has taken for 2 days in a row for lunch and he never takes leftovers.

Mid-Summer Italian Bread Salad
The Family loved this as well! I too added mozzerella and used grape tomatoe's instead and was much tastier!
