I'm a mommy to a beautiful 3 year old little girl and wife to a wonderful husband. I love to sew, do learning activities with my daughter, and cook healthy meals for my family. I am vegetarian, and while my husband isn't, I still incorporate many vegetarian meals into our household.
My favorite things to cook
I just love to cook. I especially love to bake. A few of my favorite foods are: veggie spaghetti, veggie burgers, portabella burgers, biscuits, roasted potatoes, tomato sandwiches, and egg salad
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad always makes wild rice dressing for Thanksgiving. It's delicious. I've been trying to get the recipe out of him for years. We make cookies every Christmas and let the kids decorate them. Also, my mom makes a devil's food cake every Christmas. Another recipe I've been trying to get since I can remember.
My cooking triumphs
I apparently have very good luck with baking. Anything I have ever tried to bake turns out beautifully. I especially like to make Challah. It is Jewish Egg Bread. The kind that is braided. Not only is it fun to make, it's delicious to eat! I don't get to make it very often though, as it takes about 4 hours to complete. One year I made it for a Christmas party and died the two of the three parts of the braid red and green with food coloring. So the loaf came out red, green, and white.
My cooking tragedies
My cousin and I were making peanut brittle one day. We had successfully made one batch, and were working on the second. I think we put just a tad too much butter in it because it ended up being peanut taffy. The only thing this "taffy" was good for was pulling teeth.
