About this Cook
I'm a 58 yo guy, single, I make a decent living as an electrician/draftsman. I grew up the son of a county sheriff. Grew up on my gradmothers farm in Tennessee.
My favorite things to cook
I cook southern style. No spices other than salt and pepper, fat back, country ham pieces, etc. I make a MEAN meatloaf, like to fix dry beans, limas, pintos.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Like i said, I learned to cook southern style. I never use recipes. I get my basic ideas and just go from there. I never measure anything either
My cooking triumphs
My southern potato salad gets a lot of compliments. I make it 16 lbs at a time. I can't cook in small batches cause everybody wants some!!! I switch to all kinds of soups and casarolles in the winter. Spaghetti, chicken rice and mushroom soups, vegetable beef, and my best chili!!!
My cooking tragedies
Making a homemade peach cobbler! Made it way too big, too heavy for the pan, dropped it, splashed all over my arms, burnt like LAVA!! still have the scars!

Hashbrown Casserole
I doubled the recipe! I used mushroom soup instead of chicken. I browned 2 lbs. of sausage with diced onion, other than that, I followed the recipe. When it first comes out of the oven, it's pretty much SOUP! But after a night in the fridge, it was REALLY good!!!
