I am 32 years old, I have been happily married for five years and am a mother of a 4 year old boy. I have always loved to cook, experimentation and finding ways to recreate dishes that I grew up with. About three years ago, my family relocated to Europe, it has been a great lesson in flavors and how best to work with familiar and often times new food combinations. I have gathered many new recipes and look forward to perfecting them as the dishes are meant to be made (traditional recipes) or tweaking them to a whole new level.
My favorite things to cook
I love Italian food! Italian food is straight forward and most every recipe takes little time to prep and cook. If you love working with different flavor combinations that you may have never thought of, than Italian is a great place to start. I really love a good traditional prepared (fresh ingredients) pasta dish. Believe it or not Spaghetti and Alfredo is not served in Italian restaurant as it is in the States. Spaghetti is noodles (often Penne) with a sparse tomato sauce, and Alfredo is mostly a cream sauce minus the cheese. Tiramisu is a wonder dessert as is Gelato! I am now currently trying out my skills at cooking traditional German food, yum!
My cooking tragedies
I have many, but one that comes immediately to mind is when I had baked my son's cake for his third birthday. The cake turned out perfect, so perfect in fact that when I left it to cool my labrador mix decided he needed to taste test it to determine if it tasted as good as it looked. Apparently, it did, as he ate the entire thing!
