I'm a guy living in southwestern Pennsylvania. My family is noted for their excellent cooking skills. Grandma was from Ukraine, and learned to cook at an early age. Mother is a gourmet cook, and my Father is Italian and could make a decent meal. I myself only recently became interested in cooking, and find it interesting.
My favorite things to cook
I recently became interested in Asian culture, so anything Asian is what I'm cooking now. I enjoy Italian and French food, too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
European meals: South and East European cuisine.
My cooking triumphs
I can get a meal together pretty quick, so really, a lot of my meals are real triumphs.
My cooking tragedies
Icing for a homemade cake... I had added too little water to the GRANULATED sugar. I had mistakenly used granulated sugar instead of powdered, and used only a few spoonfuls of water for my cup of sugar. Needless to say, the sugar soaked up all the water and became molten when boiled. Most of it burned, and I was left without icing, a bowl of unneeded egg whites and a whole bottle of vanilla extract, unused.
