Nikki 38 yr. old mom of two
About this Cook
I'm a 38 yr old mother of two beautiful teenagers, a boy and a girl. (best of both worlds)! Happily married to a wonderful man. I was married twice before, and widowed twice. My first husband i married at 18, so wa he. Then widowed 3 mons. after my daughters birth, I was 20. Married again at 24. Had my son. Then my husband at age 30 was killed in a drunk driving accident. I remained a single mom until Aug. of 08. So I've had lots of time to try my hand at big meals and quick meals. Going to college at 21 and raising children and working all these years, I think my husband now is the luckier of them because I've had a little time to practice!
My favorite things to cook
May sound silly, but really anything that my friends or family enjoy. I love requests and then to see how well they're enjoyed. My mother always taught us girls, (there is five of us), to find a recipe, either someone elses or our own, and try to find our own "secret" ingredient that makes a slight improvement. If it's possible.
My cooking triumphs
I've had lot of triumphs in these learning years. May sound a little silly but I think i tend to remember my tragedies and blow-ups way more than any of my success dishes.
My cooking tragedies
Now friends, it's o.k, you can laugh, hard and outloud if you wish, I still do, but homemade biscuits. I have never been able to make them. First time i tried i must have been twelve, and the dough turned out so hard, now mind you raw dough, not cooked, turned out so hard i remember my sisters and me going outside and throwing the dough at the corner stop sign and it sounding like a baseball hitting it,(it bounced off like one too), and to this day at 38 believe me when I tell you NOTHING has changed.
