I have been cooking since I was 5. I have made MANY mistakes since I don't follow recipes exactly the way they are written, which has drawn me to Allrecipes.com I love all the comments that are made to improve for each cook's individual taste (or the taste of their families), and encourage everyone from the beginner to the expert to test and challenge themselves to try new things!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking lean meals with chicken, shrimp, scallops, and lots of different veggies, but don't alter too much. When I am bored or want to experiment a little, I bake!
My cooking tragedies
When I was very young, my parents put me in charge of making popcorn for movie night (with the classic air popper). I knew that salt and butter were the norm, but had recently tried kettle corn, which I thought was amazing! So warm and so sweet. I had also been introduced to sprinkling Lowry's Seasoning salt on my popcorn (delicious). So for my family's delight, I put Lowry's AND sugar on the tasty treat. I brought it to them... and ended up dumping it out to make another batch, this time WITHOUT sugar! I never stopped experimenting. :)
