About this Cook
Recent college grad trying to hash out the art of living economically.
My favorite things to cook
Mom's cookies. Perfect, golden brown, slightly crunchy, mostly soft and chewy, melty chocolate morsels of delight...
My favorite family cooking traditions
see above
My cooking triumphs
I figured out what I was doing wrong in 2005: to boil water, you have to put the stove on HIGH. Not low.
My cooking tragedies
There's always something.

Pumpkin Turkey Chili
Used some of the modifications of others listed below, but easy and healthy! Here's what I changed: 1) omitted the bell peppers 2) added kidney beans 3) cumin 4) chili powder 5) bay leaves 6) salt, pepper 7) orange juice 8) some tomato sauce I also let mine simmer for two hours. Yum.

Pineapple Fried Quinoa
This is actually pretty good! I overdid my quinoa and didn't chop my pineapple as much as I should... but it was still great. Could be healthier without the yolk. Easy.

Hot and Spicy Tofu
the sauce didn't thicken... perhaps my cornstarch has gone bad. I can't taste/feel the sauce. Other than that, everything else was fantastic. I served mine on lentils and brown rice - 1/2 cup each, strained, put in boiling water and then simmered while you do the rest of the work on the onions, tofu etc. easy, and good.
