About this Cook
First, I'm a Christian. God has given me three awesome sons who are now 15, 13 & 11. I love cooking for them and teaching them to cook too. They enjoy getting involved in the kitchen and, of course, tasting our creations. I consider it a joy and a privilege to have the opportunity to be their mother and teacher in life. I look forward to getting some new ideas for cooking together here on allrecipes.com
My favorite things to cook
I've discovered that I really enjoy making soups. I don't really have many recipes that I've conquered, but know that I love having a stock pot on the stove with its aroma filling the house for hours before we eat. I hope to learn more great soup recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Putting on a pot of Chicken and dumplings on a cold & wet fall day is a favorite tradition of ours...of course, a fire in the fireplace adds to the ambiance too.
My cooking triumphs
Probably the dishes I make most often for guests and they rave over are: FETTUCCINE ALFREDO-People really love the alfredo sauce. I learned it from an Italian cooking book and it really isn't that difficult to make. CHICKEN PARMESAN-This is about the simplest recipe and family and guests both love it.
My cooking tragedies
Once, when I was only 20yrs old, I was staying at my friend's house. Now, she was a more mature woman who was married with children and had been running a home for twenty years. She was out, but called and asked me to place a chicken in a roaster bag and then put it into the oven to bake. I'd never used a roasting bag before, but thought I was doing a great job when I put it into the oven. Some time later my friend arrived and checked on the baking chicken. She then asked me why I decided not to put it in the bag...very confused, I replied that I HAD put it in the bag. It didn't take long for us to discover that I'd used the wrong kind of bag and it had melted down all over the chicken. I felt terrible...and quite stupid. She was very gracious about it and we ordered take out for dinner that night. :( You live and you learn. :)

Grandmas Chicken Chardon
I've been making a similar, but simpler version of this recipe for years. It is a favorite with my family and with many guests, so I thought I'd at least mention the variation here: Dip the chicken breasts in olive oil, then in a mixture of half parmesan cheese and half Italian bread crumbs, then bake in a vegetable sprayed dish covered with foil. Remove the foil for the last five minutes of baking. Chicken tenderloins may also be substituted for full breasts, just remember to reduce baking time. That's it! Hope you enjoy.
