I love to bake! I am pretty good with sweets. My specialty is cake decorating, cookies, pies(great grandmother's approval), and some candies.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook with beef or vegetables. I am not a chicken person, because I am allergic but I cook it for others. I like to make lasagna, homemade potpies, dumplings, and veggie pizzas. I like to try anything new.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always cook on the holidays. I always cook: Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas, and New Year's dinners. I like to cook for company. I always make all of the Christmas cookies and candy for my family and friends. I also make any kind of cakes for my family and friends...even wedding cakes. I like to make special occasions more enjoyable and memorable.
My cooking triumphs
I just learned to can!! I looked and looked for a dilly beans recipe and I finally found one. I was so proud and excited to share my new-found ability and to eat those dilly green beans! I found a jar at the store and they were $8 a jar. Yikes! Out of desperation, I bought a jar and savored every bite. Now I can make my own...and cheaper!
My cooking tragedies
My first cake was my biggest flop. I was 9 years old. I was making a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting for my great grandmother's birthday. It looked real pretty. My grandma thought it looked sparkly before I frosted it. I knew it looked too sparkly...I put a TABLESPOON of salt instead of a TEASPOON!!! uuugggghhhhh!!!! Hey, but it did look pretty! :)
