My BF’s family, as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, is famous for their chili. They make vegan tofu chili now, but luckily my boyfriend learned how to make it the traditional way with ground beef before his mom and sister converted to veganism, and his brother went vegetarian. There’s really no… MORE

About this Cook
I'm a 21 year old novice cook - I just moved out on my own and am discovering how much fun cooking is! I'm also trying to get into baking and candy making. I love trying new recipes, and adjusting them to suit my tastes.
My favorite things to cook
I love BBQing, making casseroles, and putting together any kind of soup. I'm also trying to get into baking - my kitchen is tiny so I have to have simple recipes, but I love making muffins and cookies to take into my office and share!
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was little my mom taught me how to make brown sugar syrup for our homemade pancakes - everytime she made pancakes at home, I would make the sauce to go with them!
My cooking triumphs
The first time I got asked for a recipe :)
My cooking tragedies
When I was in high school I decided to make some cinnamon buns, but the only recipe I could find was a huge batch, so I cut it in half. However, when I went to mix the ingredients, I found myself adding the full amount of some but only half of others, and I couldn't remember how much of each I'd already done. I tried cooking them anyways, but they were terrible - and my parents were upset I'd wasted all those ingredients!

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge
This is a very forgiving recipe - my store doesn't carry marshmallow cream so I just used 7 ounces of marshmallws (about 30 large), which didn't melt very well at first so I had to boil it for longer than 5 minutes, but it still turned out fine! I used store-brand chocolate chips and you can really taste it - next time I'll definitely be using a higher quality chocolate. However, great texture and easy instructions.

Ruby Drive Sloppy Joes
Delicious! I added half a small onion and 2 cloves garlic, and used 2/3 cup ketchup and 1/3 cup BBQ sauce. Next time I'll do half ketchup and half chili sauce and maybe cut the brown sugar for something a little less sweet. I'm thinking about using the leftovers in the Barbecue Beef Biscuits from this site. Thanks for a great recipe!

Curry Pumpkin Soup
EDIT: I had to up my rating after trying the leftovers, which were SO much better than the night of! I used coconut milk instead of cream because it's what I had, but next time I think I'll stick with regular cream - the coconut was a little overpowering. I added garlic and onion and some more curry powder. Easy, delicious, and quick to make, so I'll keep the recipe on hand! Thanks.
