About this Cook
I live in Amarillo, TX with my wonderful husband and 3 Super Cute Pooches!
My favorite things to cook
Anything that I create by throwing whatever I can find in the pantry and fridge into a pan or the oven.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Memom (grandmother) cooked with whatever she had in the house and would make these wonderful meals. I had the pleasure of living with her on 2 occasions and picked up on this skill. My husband finds these throw together meals much better than the ones that I plan out and follow a recipe!
My cooking triumphs
Anything that I make and my husband requests a repeat or says "this is a keeper!"
My cooking tragedies
The very first time I had ever made a pecan pie was for Thanksgiving dinner at my sister's house. When I put in the pecans as stated in the recipe I thought, "surely this recipe is typed wrong, I think I need to add more pecans." Mind you, I don't even like pecan pie so I had no idea that the pecans "float" to the top of the pie when cooked. Thank goodness we thought to put it on a cookie sheet because her oven would have been a mess! We still served it, and my uncle actually asked me to make it again, with the extra pecans, for Christmas.

Caramel Pecan Pie
This is a wonderful recipe and a nice alternative to using corn syrup. I am serving this for Thanksgiving and I am sure it will be a hit! I didn't and don't see a need to do anything differently to this recipe. It is great as it is!

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies
I thought these brownies tasted wonderful. The only thing I was disappointed with was how thin then turned out. I like my brownies thick and cake like. However, these were a hit with my husband...he loved them because the fudgy type brownie is what he likes best. He gives them 5 stars. I will definately be using this recipe from now on. Next time I am going to double the recipe and try a smaller pan...I am through with store bought mixes!!

Mom's Country Gravy
This was the first "from scratch" gravy and I must say that I like that I can season it to my taste. I wouldn't say it had no flavor, but a mild flavor that complimented the steak fingers that I made perfectly. I had so much left over that I am going to cook up some sausage and make biscuits in the morning. My husband and stepson gave it a thumbs up!
