My Babies
About this Cook
I was raised in Pittsburgh, PA and I reside in a DC suburb for the past 7 years. I am married and have one daughter Kendall who will be 4 on 1/6/10. I also have one cat Edwin he is a Siberian and he is the only breed my allergies can tolerate. I was a licensed funeral director for over 6 years and finally ended up in outside sales. I worked in medical equipment sales and finally a mortgage wholesale rep. I am currently taking some courses for a degree in sonography.
My favorite things to cook
Carbs & sweets are my fav. I could live on bread and pasta. I also love to bake cookies & cakes. I would love to learn more about decorating.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Italian food, homemade sauces, pasta etc. My inlaws are from Northern Italy they moved to the US when they were teenagers. I am a Heniz 57; German, British, Welsh & Slovac. So I also live pierogies, helushki, baklava.
My cooking triumphs
Homemade Manicotti (with help from my mother in law) it is hard since she never measures anything so getting recipes is a challenge.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I attempted to make gnocchi they turned out a gross raw dough blob. But the worst thing that happened to me was my first xmas with my inlaws. I baked for 6 weeks and made dozens and dozens of cookies since my husbands family is huge. Well I live 3 1/2 hours away and half way to their house I realized I left all of the cookies at home.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini
Great recipe. I replaced the cream with a package of low fat cream cheese & a 1 1/2 cup of 2% milk to lower the fat content.

Key Lime Pie VII
Great recipe I didn't change a thing. I cut the limes in half & used a garlic press to get the most juice out of those little suckers. I used 16 key limes for 3/4 cup the recipe called for.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese
Good recipe I made the original the 1st time but the 2nd time around I added 1/2 c 2% milk & 1/4 cup cream cheese. I also put several splashes of chipotle tabasco on the topping. YUM
