About this Cook
I have always liked to bake, but now I am really enjoying cooking! I like simple easy and tasty recipes that don't call for special 1 time use items. Everyday cooking is for me!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking things for my husband. He likes to cook too but doesn't follow a recipe, or write down what he makes which is a tragedy when it is something really good!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chocolate pinwheel candy at christmas time, Mom makes it the best!
My cooking triumphs
The day I made my first corned beef and it was so nice and tasty, it melted in your mouth. What was even better was after we came back from my in-laws my husband said "Your corned beef is better than my mothers" That felt sooooo good!
My cooking tragedies
I have very little patience so if something goes wrong I get a bit, um testy, mad, angry. But one thing that did go terribly wrong and was so simple was garlic bread. If you remember back a few years there was a commercial about the 12 days of turkey and the like "flaming turkey wings" well I had flaming garlic bread. That story still haunts me when anyone wants garlic bread. I offer that job to anyone else! (Darn broiler!)

Zippy Zucchini
I followed the directions exactly and when mixing everything up I had my reservations. As others said it needed some kick, I added fresh garlic to the cooking process as well as crushed black pepper. It did need 10 more minutes in the oven. It did get nice and brown. Upon tasting it, it still needed something more, too bland. Added some Red Hot and that helped. I am hoping it tastes better the second day as there are plenty of leftovers.
