About this Cook
Former HS teacher, sales manager now in real estate sales since 1995. I cooked a lot in my early years, then stopped cooking for about 15 years (microwave, fast foods, restaurants). When my son and his children came to live in FTW area I started cooking again and have been at it for about 10 years, now. My big day is Sunday dinner. My son and the kids like to say "Grandma's got the table jumping up and down with food!"
My favorite things to cook
I like to use a lot of different spices in meat dishes to change the taste. Garlic is my favorite spice because it reminds me of my mother's kitchen. Onions are another favorite because it reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade biscuits, corn-bread, southern fried chicken or beef pot roast on Sunday. Traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas meals with a couple of new recipes thrown in for spicing it up.
My cooking triumphs
Jambalaya, beef pot roast, country pork ribs in the slow cooker, different kinds of rice, pumpkin pie (off the can recipe can't be beat).
My cooking tragedies
I'm not good at grilling. Need a man for that. Burn the garlic toast about 50% of the time because I forget to set the timer.
