I'm a 28y/o stay-home mommy of 2 & college student and I love to cook! I love to try new recipes and experiment on making my own dishes. I also love to read, watch movies, dine out, and just being with my family.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are mainly pasta dishes, asian dishes that I picked up in Guam & Taiwan, and poultry/seafood. I like to keep it simple as possible w/o sacrificing taste (i.e. buying pre-cut vegetables) and to save time. Now & then I like to try gourmet dishes or something more complicated or extravagant. I enjoy the satisfaction of cooking something that people really like and want more of. I love making chicken dishes as well & always looking for new or different ways to make chicken.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up I loved to watch and help my mom cook and bake. Now I ask for family recipes to make for my own family or people I know would love them as much as I did. I also like to think up combinations of ingredients to experiment with until I come up with something yummy!
My cooking triumphs
I found a seafood chowder recipe on here that I tweaked a bit and it came out fantastic! I made a huge pot that I intended to share with a couple of friends when they came over but my husband (who is not a big fan of cream based soups/sauces), and my kids devoured it pretty quick. It was my 1st time making a chowder and was quite proud it turned out so well. I also learned to make sushi and after making it for my friends, we would have sushi parties where I would teach them and we all make our own, along with asian cucumber salad.
My cooking tragedies
I recently tried making lo mein and I thought it was terrible! Turned out I used the wrong kind of noodles!! They were the mushiest noodles ever! Now when it comes to making noodle dishes like that, i'll stick to spaghetti noodles!!
