I was born in Winston Salem, NC. Although my mom says I was born and am a true Southern belle, deep down at heart I'm a Texas girl (HOOK 'EM!) I love cooking and baking, trying new foods, and serving dishes to my family at big gatherings. I enjoy photography and love walking/hiking. I'm a sporty kind of girl, and have always been the of the active sort. I love music, and play mostly classical on violin and piano. Coincidentally enough, Austin is the music capital of Texas, so I speak for the thousands of fellow musicians out there and myself when I say 'POWER TO THE MUSICIANS!!!!!!' I have played piano for 10 years, and violin for 1 year. I love sharing recipes, and my family always tells me I am wise beyond my years!
My favorite things to cook
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, you name it! I love making all kinds of food, regardless the time of day. Give me a kitchen and an idea of what you want, and your wish is my command. I love making foor for crowds, parties, weddings, pretty much anyone in general.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving. DEFINITELY. Everyone comes together to make great dishes and share stories, how much better can it get????
My cooking triumphs
My 3 layer chocolate strawberry cake. For sure. I'll post the recipe when I get the chance, but it was 2 layers of chocolate cake with chocolate icing and a nice, thick layer of freshly cut strawberries right in the middle! (Just thinking about it makes me drool!)
My cooking tragedies
None yet! Whew! We're not perfect though, right? I say life's about learning from your mistakes and picking up where you left off, because that's the only way you'll learn to correct what you did wrong.
