Me & my two Grand Daughters
About this Cook
I am 51. I have two children,a Son, 34 & a Daughter, 26 and a Beautiful 4 yr old Grand Daughter and another one due in Febuary 2009. I have been Happily married for 25 years and counting. We are both FAT as I LOVE TO COOK!!! I was taught to cook by a pinch of this and a dab of that. I just love to find new recipes. I am horrid about changing recipes by a pinch of this and a dab of that, but it normally comes out very good. I love to read, mostly horror, and movies, movies and more movies!!! I also love my two dogs. Buddy Boy a Toy Fox terror and a Chihuahua named Stinker. And boy is he a STINKER!!! Ha ha.
My favorite things to cook
Green pepper, mushroom, onion, steak rice topped with green onions, Southern fried chicken, potato salad, baked chicken and soups. I make all kinds of soups. I also make SUPER peanut brittle, and glass candy, all flavors. Those are my Christmas gifts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love having my family over for their Birthdays and cooking their FAVORITE dishes. Every year I am most surprised by what they will ask for. My Daughter ALWAYS asks for the green pepper, mushroom, onion, steak rice. My Son on the other hand always has something different that he remembers from his childhood that he would like to have again. My Husband...well, I swear, with the right spices, he'd eat fried card board!!! Mostly he's a meat and potatoes kind of guy. I also LOVE the holidays to get together and have just about EVERYTHING!!!
My cooking triumphs
Anymore, with my RA, I feel all my cooking triumphs are TRIUMPHS!!! When I FIRST got married, I could cook almost ANYTHING...except simple things, like eggs!!! Or pancakes... Give me a recipe that no one else can cook, and I can cook it, but give me an egg or a pancake and forget it. SOOOOO, my triumphs have been to cook perfect eggs and pancakes.
My cooking tragedies
I can NOT make home made pie crust!!! I got a "no fail" pie crust recipe from a friend of mine. I was so excited, to FINALLY be able to make a home made pie crust! I made the crust, set it aside, made the creamy chocolate filling, made home made whipped cream and got it all together. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! I am so sure it would have been just SUPER... EXCEPT... when we went to cut into the pie,I had forgotten to cook the pie crust!!! VERY gooy! NEVER again. The frozen ones are just as good. Ha ha ha.

Red Hot Baked Apples
I can't believe this recipe is here!!! My Grand Mother used to make these all the time. She did add the butter and I would just gobble them up! Thank you so much for reminding me of an old favorite!!!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast
My family has been using this recipe for years!!! Sometimes we brown the roast and sometimes we don't. Just depends on the time we have in the morning to get it into the crock pot. My Mother when I was young had never heard of a crock pot, so she cooked it in the over on a very low temp. I must admit, it was never as tender as it is, cooked in the crock pot! The longer you leave it in the crock pot, the more tender the meat is! We never have to use a knife with ours and we have also used ALL kinds of roasts. We do put salt, pepper and garlic salt. BEST roast in the world!!! Thank you for posting it!

Slow Cooker Chops
What a wonderful recipe!!! SO close to mine. Mine is different in that, I season my pork chops with sea salt, fresh ground pepper, and garlic salt. Then I brown them in a pan. Place one can of cream of mushroom soup in bottom of crock pot, place chops on top of that and another can of cream of mushroom soup. I cook this all day long. I do buy about an inch thick chops though. At a bout an hour before we eat, I add the green beans. Now my favorite part...I make mashed potatoes and serve the sauce over the mashed potatoes. I never add any water, milk or broth as it makes the cream of mushroom soup runny. When it's time for dinner, we help ourselves to some green beans first, grab a chop, then a scoop of mashed potatoes, and pour the sauce over it all. YUMMY!!! Great recipe. WARNING!!! Not advised for people who don't like salty stuff. Or for people on low sodium diets. But my family LOVES this meal and it's so easy!
