Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
I only used the marinade part of this recipe so that's why I'm only rating it 4 stars. I used flap meat and let is marinade for 2 hours. We then cooked the meat in the broiler. Turned out really good. Next time I'm going to marinade it over night.

Crab Quiche I

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I wasn't crazy about this recipe but my husband really liked it. I did modify the recipe quite a bit. I added Old Bay seasoning, black pepper, garlic powder, and a dash of Tabasco. I also used really claw meat crab instead of the canned stuff. I don't think I will be making this again unless my husband request it.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
I love the simplicity of this dish. I would rate the cheese topping 5 stars it was delicious. I did sprinkle old bay season on both sides of the fish before putting it in the broiler. I wish there was a way to infuse the topping flavor more into the fish. My boyfriend really like this dish so this will be in heavy rotation at our house. A quick and easy recipe that tasty good. Can't go wrong with that!

Shredded Beef for Tacos

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
This recipes just didn't do it for me. I used a 3.75 pound beef round roast. I put my roast in the crockpot already defrosted. The recipe says cook the defrosted roast for 5 hours on low. WRONG! After 5 hours this roast would not shred at all. I had to cook it for an additional 2 hours and it was still not easy to shred. The roast itself was just flavorless and swimming in juice. I will never make this recipe again.

Lemon-Lime Chicken Broil

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
I really enjoyed this chicken. I lemon-lime juice really gave it a kick. I mixed the italian season and season salt together with some parsley then sprinkled on both sides of the chicken. Be careful not to cut the chicken in to small of pieces because they will burn. I like this recipe so much I'm going to make it again tonite.

Balsamic-Glazed Salmon Fillets

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
This recipe was just ok for me. The balsamic vinegar overpowered the salmon. The weird smell of the glazed lingered in the house after cooking this salmon. I don't think I will be making this again.

Spicy Rapid Roast Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
I LOVED this chicken. This and the sticky roast chicken are by far the best I've made. I increased the spices and added garlic powder and cajun season. I put the spices under the skin and inside the cavity of the chicken. I added 1/4 cup of water to the bottom of the pan to prevent burning. I had to cook my chicken longer than the recipe calls for. This recipe will be in heavy rotation at our house.

Slow Cooker Creole Black Beans and Sausage

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
I made this recipe last night and it was a big hit. I did however make a few minor changes. I didn't cook this in the crockpot as the recipe states. I sauteed the green pepper, onion, and celery in two tablespoon of olive oil. I sliced the sausage and cooked them for 10 minutes in a separate pan. I added all the ingredients to the veggies and mixed everything together well. I added the sausage last and let all the ingredients cook together for about 45 minutes - 1hr. Once it was done we ate it over rice. I used red onion instead of the white onion. I also added 1 tbs of cumin. I will definitely make this again.

Baked Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
This was a very good recipe for buffalo wings. I did make some modifications to the recipe however. I used the small party wing instead of the regular size wings. I only put the wings in the fridge for about 30 minutes. I also increased the amount of garlic powder to 1 tablespoon. I baked the wings on 425 for 1 hours. After 50 minutes in the oven I dipped the wings in the sauce then put back in the oven to bake the additional 10 mintues. They turned out so good and crispy just like we like them. Me and my boyfriend ate all 20 wings, they were just that good.

Crispy Chicken Strips

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
Nothing special about these chicken strips. Cooked these for my boyfriend and he said they had good crunch but not much flavor. I would agree. I followed the recipe however I added a little garlic and cayenne powder.

Apple Blue Cheese Salad

I can't get enough of this salad. I didn't really care for the apples but my boyfriend did. I used the candied pecans instead of the regular ones. This is my favorite salad by far.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
EXCELLENT!!!! I've made this chicken twice now and we love it. My boyfriend just about ate the whole chicken by himself. I kept the spices just as the recipe called for. I only make one chicken and add all the spice on that one chicken. I coat the chicken with olive oil before putting the spices on. I also took a few pats of butter and coated them in the spices, and put that under parts of the skin. This recipe is a keeper for sure. Also I only cook my chicken for 4hrs instead of 5hrs.

Rotini and Salami Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
I love salami so I thought I would try this recipe. First off if you make this recipe make sure you get a pasta sauce you like. I tried Classico pasta sauce and I hated it. This is a really heavy and fattening casserole. I just wasn't impressed and won't make this again.
