well I'm not giving up! but i am going to have to try it a few more times. i took the advice of a few other reviewers, and realized that everyone's stoves, and cookware, are different, and what may work for one person, may not work for the next! so i tried to cook the toffee to 300 degrees, and not stir constantly, but just frequently (which alot of reviewers mentioned) but i ended up burning it, and by the time i realized it was burning, it was too late! so i went ahead and poured into pie pans and top with chocolate and almonds (i wanted the toffee to be a bit thicker than some others pictured, so i used 2 pie pans instead of a cookie sheet) but after it cooled a bit, i tasted it and it tasted very burnt. i let it set over night to see if it would change in the morning, and it did.... slightly. but it was still burnt, none the less! i think this could be a great recipe, but i have to figure out what my stove can do, and what it can't
