About this Cook
I was never a kitchen person until my husband and I decided to migrate to the US. I am not amused with kitchen utensils, pots and pans and most especially the raw mats. But life is different here in the US, you have to do it on your own. With no hired cooks to prepare my food, I started to experiment and try cooking myself, using the little orange notebook that I brought with me with all instructions in layman's term of our favorite food. To my surprise, my husband Robert enjoyed every food that I placed on the table. That was the start...Now,my favorite part of the house is the kitchen, and I now become the official chef for my family, who all claimed that they have gained weight because of my cooking. As lyrics to the song, cooking ingredients gives me joy to prep and do my cooking...Meaning, I now cook not just to eat but because I enjoy doing it and i love to feed my family with food cooked from the heart. :)
My favorite things to cook
Chicken wings, pork & chicken adobo, macaroni salad, soup with vegetables, tri tip roast, menudo, afritada, tapa, steam fish, seafoods and a lot more....
My favorite family cooking traditions
mechado and kalderata
My cooking triumphs
MY VERY OWN TRI TIP ROAST, MACARONI SALAD AND CHICKEN WINGS
My cooking tragedies
I was about to prepare chicken wings for dinner, pre heat the`frying pan with oil. I suddenly need to go up and change to my favorite cooking outfit,I turned off the stove vent, went up and took awhile fixing other things, when I smelled burned oil and a lot of smoke all over the hallway, My heart was beating very fast and I hurried downstairs nervously and saw the frying pan on fire almost reaching the ceiling.Out of panic, I took out the pan from the stove to stop it from heating, I did not realize that the fire did not immediately died down from the pan. So I was holding it, the fire reached my arm and since I can't stand the heat anymore, I dropped the pan to the floor with the too much heated oil splattering all over my feet. I thought I must have burned down the entire house, but thank God it didn't reach that worst. Just 15 seconds away for the fire alarm to go off. My husband, son and daughter arrived while I was still shocked and shivering. I thought that would be my last scene

Yummy Garlic Croutons
This one is perfect for the caesar salad supreme... The taste of the croutons added more flavor the salad. some changes that I made are: half/half extra virgin olive oil/butter...added Italian seasoning instead of basil...and extended cooking hours to 25 mins but with constant checking.

Caesar Salad Supreme
My husband and I had dinner recently and Ive been craving for the caesar salad that we ordered. I immediately search for a recipe and found this "caesar salad supreme". I followed all ingredients and procedures 100% and the result....PERFECT!!! for me and my husband. I did not even finish my rib eye steak for I indulged so much on the caesar salad. Thank you so much Karen for sharing this recipe to everyone.:)

Perfect Turkey
I cooked my very first turkey on Thanksgiving yesterday and it turned out very well. Sooo juicy and flavorful. My family and guests loved it. One of my guests (who is a chef) commented that my turkey was so far the best that he had tasted. The process is long but if you follow the instructions carefully, you will be happy with the result. Though, I am not so happy with the skin browning.Next time I will cover it with foil half way during roasting to make it more brown. Thanks for the recipe and I can't wait for next year Thanksgiving.
