Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
Oh my gosh, these were so much fun to make and really good! My 11yr old and I had a blast. Rolling the dough out to make the pretzel shape was a little hard for us but it had my daughter and me cracking up at the shapes we created. Just the memories alone were great! I used the parchment paper as instructed but, I wont next time b/c it didn't just peel off. I've never seen parchment paper cook on like that before and we use it w/almost all of our baking. Next time we will spray a baking sheet with Pam. Aside from that, these were great and we will make them again!

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
This was a really good recipe. I bought taco seasoning beforehand b/c some reviewers suggested it. Then, I totally forgot to add it and I didn't have any cumin and somehow this recipe was still good. It gets 5 stars alone for being fail-proof. With many reviews saying this recipe is a little bland, I was quite satisfied and I am all about seasonings. I can't wait to make it again and use the taco seasoning. I also ended up with it kind of soupy but, I'm sure that was something I did. Thank you for the great recipe!

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
Oh, wow! This recipe rocks!!! I use the rotisserie chicken from Sams and I also use white corn tortillas dipped in hot oil. As suggested by other reviewers, we added taco seasoning however my husband accidentally bought cheesy or cheddar taco seasoning (never even heard of it), so I didn't add any shredded cheese to the mix, just on top of the casserole. My family loves this and my picky 11yr old thought this was amazing! Thank you, thank you!

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
I love this sauce! We add a little sugar, italian spice & onion powder to taste and then we put it on everything that requires red sauce! It is great w/the the grilled pizza and most recently we added it to our pizza casserole, its the perfect amount!

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
These were messy but so much fun to make, eat and share! My guest loved them and my family did too. We've made these just for the heck of it. Like others, we really smother them in brown sugar and cook until the bacon is crispy. Try this appetizer, you'll be glad you did!

Baklava

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
Just made for the first time and its fantastic! I've never worked w/phyllo dough before so, I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into but, it wasn't so bad. I took the advice of many people and glad I did. The bottom turned out soggy but, from other reviewers its probably b/c I used to much butter so, I will watch that next time. Thanks for the fantastice recipe!

Braided Easter Egg Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2009
Wow, this recipe is amazing! Like others, I did have to add more flour (an extra cup) to kneed with, no big deal though. I also cut my baking time down to 25 minutes and that worked perfectly. I made two rings, one to give and one to keep. We ate ours straight from the oven and didn't have a bite left. I wrapped the second one and gave it away the next day. I am anxious to hear if it was dry or not (previous reviews said it was a bit dry and hard the following day). I also took the advise of another review and exchanged the white eggs that I baked in the bread with boiled and dyed easter eggs after it came out of the oven. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful presentation. Thank you Holly for a wonderful recipe! ***UPDATE*** I was told that the bread wasn't hard at all the next day. Maybe they said that not to hurt my feelings or maybe it is true, lol! I also remembered that I used buttermilk instead of regular milk and maybe that had something to do with it.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I made this sauce to go with another recipe and though I never tasted it alone, my finished product was wonderful! I believe this sauce was a great contribution to the dish and I will use it from now on when I make meals that require alfredo sauce.

Broccoli-Cauliflower Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
Okay, I made this recipe thinking it would be a hit b/c it has everything my family likes. I was wrong and nobody really liked it except me..... However, I absolutely loved it! My husband and mother said it was to sweet. Not for me though, it had flavors that just absolutely knocked my socks off. The dressing (sweet and zingy) and the veggies were fantastic together. I'm giving this 5 stars b/c it floated my boat, lol!

Baked Potato Salad I

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I wasn't sure what to expect with this recipe b/c either people loved or hated it in the reviews. I'm so glad I tried it b/c it was amazing! I fixed this for Easter and EVERYBODY loved it. I did do as other suggested and used 1/2 mayo and 1/2 sour cream. I will be making this from now on. Many, many stars.....

Peanut Butter Easter Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
These were really good! I added a tsp. of vanilla to the peanut butter mixture like another reviewer suggested. I also used the milk chocolate wafers from our local "Hobby Lobby" craft store to melt & dip the eggs in. I used the white mint wafers (tasted like andies mints) to write with. Everyone loved them and thought we ordered them from a bakery. This was easy, fun and now an Easter tradition in our family.

Cheesy Vegetable Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
I couldn't give this recipe anything short of 5 stars just b/c of the vegetable mixture alone. I did cheat though and used the cheese mixture (as the white sauce) from the veggie lasagna from this site submitted by Christine. I was a little apprehensive about this recipe b/c of the white sauce reviews, but the veggies sounded so good. Here is what I did. I followed the directions with the veggies, however I did season them to taste with italian seasoning, oregano and salt. Then, I mixed up the cheese mixture from the veggie lasagna recipe. I layered my 9x13 w/noodles, cheese mixture, veggies, zucchini. I did as other reviewers suggested and cooked my zucchini by itself so it could have its own layer. Then I repeated the layers followed by noodles and the cheese mixture and a layer of shredded cheese. I also used the mexican blend of shredded cheese b/c thats what I had on hand. Some reviews said this was to time consuming but, I prepared my veggies on Thurs, I assembled everything on Fri. and then baked on Sat. I really didn't find this time consuming at all. And, the taste is truly amazing, I didn't have any left-overs and I actually had to give the recipe to family members. I will be making this often!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
This pie is sooo yummy! I'm from Oklahoma & couldn't find key limes or key lime juice anywhere. So, I used regular lime juice and I was very impressed with the finished product. The pie is quite rich but that didn't stop me from going back for seconds. I also made my own graham cracker crust and added grated lime peel in it instead of adding it to my pie. Thanks for the wonderful recipe!

Cream Cheese Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
This recipe was nothing short of simple and sweet! I'm not to experienced with making pies but this recipe made me look like a pro. The finished product is absolutely beautiful too. I doubled the filling and added two teaspoons of vanilla for the 9inch deep dish crust. Other than that, I followed the directions and was thrilled w/the finished product!

Absolutely Amazing! I followed the directions exactly and my family loved it. I will omit the corn syrup next time b/c almost every review suggest it and I'm curious. But, I'm not sure how this could taste any better than it already does. Would double the stars if I could!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
I thought these were fun, a great way to be creative and very good! I took the advise of "Lex170" on most of the steps and the cake balls turned out so pretty! I had trouble with using a toothpick to dip with so, I just sat the cake balls on a fork and dipped in the melted chocolate and scooted them off from the bottom with a toothpick. I didn't have any problems that way. I also used a melon baller to form the balls. Thanks for the wonderful recipe!

Pizza On The Grill I

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
This recipe is the newest family favorite! We divided up the dough for individual pizzas and the family enjoyed creating their own. We used our own sauce and also sprayed the grill with pam as another review suggested. We also grilled chicken on the George Foreman grill while the dough was on the regular grill. All the flavors were so good together. I never heard of making pizza like this, I think its very creative and fun and would give this 10 stars if I could.

If you want a salad that will knock your guests socks off, this is it! Super fun to make and absolutely delicious. It presents beautifully and tastes as good as it looks. I used a couple of different veggies instead of some that were listed only b/c of family preferences. However, next time I am making it as is and I can't wait! Thanks for this amazing recipe!

This is a must have for any family recipe box! Super yummy, my whole family loved it. I used 1/2 lb beef & 1/2 lb italian sausage. I also served the parmesan knots (from this site) with dinner and it couldn't have been any better! Oh yeah, I also used a 9 X 13 inch pan and it fit perfectly. Thanks for such a wonderful recipe!
