Restaurant-Style Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
I have now made this potato salad several times and it always gets great reviews. The first time I made it I didn't have white wine vinegar so I just used regular white vinegar which was still good but the white wine vinegar gave the dish a smoother taste. I don't add the carrots or pimento but I do add 2 chopped up boiled eggs because we like eggs in our potato salad. Thanks for the great recipe!

Lemon Custard Pudding Cake

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
I'm not really sure if the issues with this cake were due to the cake itself or the baker but this did not turn out well for me. I made it exactly as the recipe read but when I cooked it the top portion came out really soggy. It was beautifully golden on top and I could see the custard pudding consistency on the bottom but I could not get the top to taste done. I covered it so that it would stop browning and tried to cook in a bit longer but I think this made things worse. Also, I was hoping it would have a more tart lemon taste. I just might not be a custard pudding cake kind of person!

Potato Potluck Dish

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
This was a great recipe but, like other reviewers, I did find it a little bland so I added onion as others had then I also added about a tbls. of rosemary and some parsley to it. Like others I also used fresh garlic. Once this was done it was great and I got tons of compliments at Easter dinner. I had plenty of leftovers so I cooked 1/2 a pound of bacon cut into pieces, removed it from the grease and cooked 1/2 pound of boneless skinless chicken breast cut into pieces in the bacon grease. I mixed the chicken in with the potatoes, added a can of mushrooms and topped it all with bacon and a sprinkle of shredded cheddar. I baked it uncovered until it was bubbly all the way through. Fantastic!

Fantastic! I even forgot to mix some of the meringue in with the pie filling and it was still great.

I've never been a real fan of meringue until now. This was amazing. I'll never do it any other way again.

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
We made this for Easter sunday and everybody loved it. My family has never been ones for putting anything on their hams so I was a little nervous but it was a hit! I left the cloves out only because I don't care for the flavor of them. Will definitely make this again.

Teriyaki Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2009
My family really liked this sauce. We've made a commitment to use more freshly made foods rather than processed foods and sauces so it's good to know that I have a teriyaki sauce that I can throw together quickly and easy that's even tastier than the ones I've bought in the store. Then only changes I made were that I didn't have sherry so I used red cooking wine and I added a tablespoon on cornstarch to the sauce before adding it to the meat and veggies to thicken it a bit. Wil make again and again!
