About this Cook
There is something about cooking that is very therapeutic! Even after a long day at work, I still enjoy laboring in the kitchen and whipping up dinner, everyday! My favorite part and watching the expression on my husband's face when he takes his first bite. Sometimes it is priceless! I always say to him, "If you don't like it, you better be honest, or I'll be making it again!"
My favorite things to cook
I love making fancy appetizers, but I also find great joy in making everyday meals too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have started doing what we call "Date Night". Every Friday, we take turns cooking each other a "new" meal, something we've never cooked before. This allows us to try new things together, whether it turns out edible or not! We like to have all of our "transplant" friends over on Christmas eve and do a gift exchange, and I make 8-12 appetizers for everyone to enjoy. There are the same 5 items (avocado egg rolls; meat/cheese dip; bacon wrapped smokies; spinach artichoke dip; apple cider) that I make every year, and the rest are all new recipes.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking Thanksgiving Dinner for the first time for 16 guests!!
My cooking tragedies
So many, where do I begin!! Peanut butter chicken skewers that were just awful (i read the measurements wrong, and added too much PB and salt), they tasted like salty PB on a stick, but my husband ate them with a smile on his face even though they weren't tasty at all! (this was before we were married, so he felt like he had to spare my feelings)!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies
Great recipe. I make them every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Covering the bacon in brown sugar first, then wrapping the mini wieners works well. And rather than using toothpicks, I just use large skewer sticks and put about 5-6 on each stick. You can fit about 10-12 skewers on a baking sheet, and it makes it very easy and quick to turn them half way through cooking. Most people enjoy eating them off the stick too, or you can just remove them and put them in a crock pot/warming dish and they don't fall apart after being cooked.
