I grew up in Texas - steak and potatoes and BBQ. Still cook it and love it, but have added Asian and Thai, Indian, Mexican, Italian, and just about any other kind of great food to my recipe box! I have owned and operated restaurants, pizzarias, and small food kiosks in Texas and California. I also practiced law for years, and am now in construction management, so I have lots of experience not only in food, but in other related areas. Let the good times roll! And bring me a cold beer with that recipe! :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to grill, of course, but baking is a passion, too. I am a true foodie, and I love to make historic dishes, themed meals (how about a Russian Christmas or Danish breakfast?), and making family favorites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Special meals for birthdays - mine is a traditional West Indian ristabfel, which is a chicken in curry sauce served over rice with lots of different condiments in small serving bowls - bacon pieces, chutneys, boiled eggs, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, stewed raisins, etc. Christmas is always a different feast from a different culture or country - 2008 was English all the way.
My cooking triumphs
Baking standing rib roast and Yorkshire puddings for 35 in a single 24" gas oven and it all came out on time! Plus, the most fabulous pizza ever - fabulous sauce, great dough with flavor, and gourmet toppings. Sooooo good!
My cooking tragedies
Onion ice cream. You can only imagine.
