About this Cook
Being a single mother at a very young age along with pinching pennies, I learned how to cook pretty quick. I am now 50 years old and have been disabled for over 10 years, but my love of cooking is endless.
My favorite things to cook
One pot casseroles, crock pot dishes, homemade soups, cookies, Italian dishes, stir-fries, comfort foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Meatloaf, roast chicken, beef and pork with all the trimmings, including yorkshire smothered in homemade gravy.
My cooking triumphs
It has taken many attempts but I've finally mastered pastry.
My cooking tragedies
Anything that requires the broiler as I have a tendency to walk away from the oven (now I set a timer to remind me to check the oven).

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs
This were great! I pre-cooked the bacon a bit. Also, I noticed a lot of reviewers were complaining the bacon was undercooked. A way to fix that is not to push the ingredients on tight, ie leave a tiny bit of space inbetween.

Cola Pork Chops
I floured chops with garlic powder, onion powder, S & P. I also added a couple drops of hot sauce to cut down on sweetness (next time add 3-4 drops). Baked 40 min uncovered and half way thru, basted. Very yummy!

Honey Butter Yule Ham
This was a nice and quick recipe. I did cut back on the cloves a bit as we are not big fans of cloves.
