The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
Was it me or did these cookies taste like baking powder? a chemical taste that you just don't want in your cookies. and sticky to roll? Yes! On the plus side -- nice texture and requires few ingredients, all of which you probably have on hand (why I chose them) but you better ice these! I even added chocolate chips after the first batch baked and they still had an off taste. I bake a lot and have tried a multitude of cookie recipes over the years so I suggest sticking to a different recipe, like a shortbread that can much more easily be rolled and cut will will probably taste better (sorry, just my opinion ... these were ravely reviewed by many other users). ** a roll and cut cookie dough tip: always, always refrigerate dough overnight then re-chill on trays after cutting and prior to baking. Happy Baking!

Quick Fried Rice
I had leftover peas and carrots and needed a quick recipe using on-hand ingredients. This was easy and inexpensive. I agreed with many other reviewers that it was lacking in flavor but I also didn't add much soy sauce while cooking. Because I anticipated "blandness" I cooked the rice in chicken broth instead of water so this probably helped. I was tempted to give it a 5 because my often picky toddler LOVED it!! A quiet, struggle-free meal is worth every effort in the kitchen. Thank you!! We'll keep this in the rotation for sure!

Chocolate Chip Brownies
I am giving these only 2 stars not because of taste really but because of the frustrating results. I was looking for something easy to make for a holiday cookie swap and this definitely fit the bill. The hardest thing was spreading out the cookie dough but that was only because I used cold dough and should have left it out a bit. I used Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Brownie Mix (my favorite packaged brownie mix) and Toll House Chocolate Cookie Dough for the recipe. I followed everything else to a tee (left out the nuts due to allergies). First of all, these were way too sweet and I had hoped actually that they would be rich because of the brownie mix. So be it. But, the frustrating thing was that the 45-50 minutes turned into over an hour to get the tooth pick to come out anywhere close to clean and by that time the outer edges and top were burnt or dried out. Perhaps it was my oven. Either way, I will make the easy 7 layer bars on the back of the Ghirardelli box next time I need a quick recipe for cookies.
