About this Cook
I have been cooking now for about 15 years..and although that to me seems like a long time, I still am learning lots of fresh new ideas everyday! I love to entertain, and my favorite time of the year is Halloween and the months that follow. I grew up in the South, so naturally I have a lot of experience cooking from my Mom and Grandma..I was always interested in the technique and couldn't wait to roll up my sleeves, and help out in the kitchen! I am married and have 2 children, and they love to cook too!
My favorite things to cook
Right now some of my favorite meals to cook is Soup! The Fall and Winter months bring on cold blistery days, and there is nothing more heartwarming than a piping hot bowl of homemade soup to warm the soul and fill the belly! Other than that it is a toss up between baking breads or desserts and anything Mexican.
My favorite family cooking traditions
One of my most memorable and tradition that we share is Christmas morning breakfast. It is so fun to stay in our pajama's, cook our famous breakfast casserole (with all the trimmings) and just lay around and eat, spend time with family and watch the christmas programs! Oh, and open the gifts too!!
My cooking triumphs
I would say my best recipe yet, is the Southern Sweet Potato Pie. It didn't seem like it was easy to make, but I really worked hard at perfecting it, because I had made everything from scratch! And it turned out better than I had expected. All of my family gave me 2 thumbs up! I made the pie just this past Thanksgivng day. I am so proud of myself!!
My cooking tragedies
I was baking some homemade quick breads for my fellow employees, and after I took out the 2 of the 4 total breads that I made, I let them cooled and tried to slice them. They fell apart immedietley, and I couldn't figure out why! Finally after I backtracked all my Ingredients step by step, I was missing 1-2 small but very important items..the EGGS! Some of my friends still ate the "egg-less bread..I think they felt sorry for me!
