About this Cook
I love to travel (just about anywhere), but especially to the ocean. I'm retired now, but fill my days with family & friends, making our "space" bright & happy, and working in my flower garden. I'm writing a memoir, dabbling in acrylics and sketching, and spend a lot of time in my kitchen coming up with redefined recipes while having a glass of wine.. I've centered most of my life around children, my own (Jeffrey, Mark,& Haven), my hundreds of Riverview Elementary School Students, and now my grandchildren (Kassidy, Madison, Noah, Max, & Jackson, Jordan C. & Jordan T., Maysen, and Caden) and their friends. I was an educator for 25 years and loved every single day of teaching. I am married to a great guy, Mike,(10 years next August!) and we live in Lake Geneva with our Cocker Spaniel, Ally.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook for company, usually consisting of my grown children and their children, close friends, and neighbors. Some of my favorites to cook are a Rib-eye roast & Sour Cream mashed potatoes dinner, Breaded Pork Tenderloin with Sour cream & Cucumbers, Salmon with Bernaise Sauce over Spinach, Sunday Pot Roast with Vegetables, Linguine with Clams in Wine Sauce, and Stuffed Pork Tenderloin with Red Parsleyed Potatoes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Holiday my kids request Frosted Sour Cream cut-out cookies. It was my Grandmother's recipe and the cookies melt in your mouth! Other traditions are Chili Con Carne on Halloween, Roast Turkey & Stuffing on Thanksgiving, Garlic Prime Rib on Christmas, Ham on Easter, and Potato Chip Chicken on the Fourth of July. Another fun tradition is shaping butter with cookie cutters on Holidays. My Grandmother used to make her own butter and mold Animal shapes for the holiday table, so I continue the tradition in part.
