About this Cook
I started cooking as a teenager and got so much positive feedback, especially from my Dad that it really encouraged me to keep going. Once I had a family of my own I really went full spead ahead. I could live in my kitchen!!!! My dream kitchen will have a fireplace in it just for the added ambience :-)
My favorite things to cook
Pretty much everything. I am not really interested in baking however. It's funny, I tend to be intimidated by the more simple things like roasts, steaks.....I have been cooking more gourmet type meals and have more confidence with that.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hands down it is Christmas breakfast/brunch. I have children and they love my monkey bread (me too!!), I make lot's of different quiches and cook lots of bacon in the oven (to avoid the splatter). Fruit and of course the best coffee!
My cooking triumphs
Let's see....this amazing pork tenderloin with a maple syrup glaze. I serve it with homemade applesauce and wildrice apple pancakes. So yummy. I also make these delicious individual serving size pork pies that I think I could sell!!
My cooking tragedies
Tapioca!

Slow-Cooked Short Ribs
Such a fantastic slow cooker recipe! I did not brown them ahead of time, I also substituted apple cider vinegar. Next time (and there will be many next times for this recipe) I will use less vinegar, half the onion and half the brown sugar. I also substituted bbq sauce for chili sauce. Despite the changes/substitutions----this really is an amazing springboard recipe for cook's to tweak to their own personal preferrences. I served mine with wedges of roasted parmesean garlic potatoes, brussel sprouts/bacon, corn and garlic bread. Not a meal to eat when watching calories!!! It was a birthday celebration meal and was a hit from age 8 to age 78!!!!
