About this Cook
I am a 31 year old stay at home mother of 4, and the wife of the most handsome man in the whole world! When our oldest turned 5 and was ready for Kindergarten, we decided to use my degree in education and homeschool. It is working great for our family, especially with my husbands work schedule. This year my oldest is in 1st and my second is in Kindergarten. I also have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. Life is busy, but very exciting. I have always loved cooking; however, I love it more now that my 2 older ones are developing a love to cook also!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about anything, and love to try new things. Recently, I have been baking more, probably because of our cold, snowy weather.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is fabulous cook. When we were growing up, my parents started us in the kitchen around ages 9-10. With three girls in the house, all of us had a special job preparing supper. Starting with the the basics (pealing potatos, cutting up a whole Chicken, grating cheese, etc.) Being the youngest I was stuck wwith those jobs the longest. However, by the time we were Juniors in HS, we were responsible for supper one night a week (usually Sat. because of school activities during the week). Even though this sounds very old fashioned, my husband is very greatful that I could do more than boil water when we got married.
My cooking triumphs
The first time a cooked a full meal for my boyfriend (now husband). It was a success and I think it sealed the deal!!!!
My cooking tragedies
After we were married, with not that much in the cabinets of 2 college students, I decided to make something sweet. I had everything for rice crispy treats (easy enough). Not thinking and trying to hurry, I melted a whole stick of butter not just half. The treats had a soggy, oily layer on the bottom. I think my new husband wondered what he had gotten himself into. LOL
