About this Cook
I'm a very caring person who enjoys helping others in need and sharing my knowledge with others. My family and friends are very important to me and I treasure each and everyone of them. I'm very easy going, love being out in the outdoors, I make sure that I learn something *new* everyday. I love trying out new things whether it be creating something to eat, reading a new book, listening to different types of music or learning a new language. There'll always be something *new* to do and try.
My favorite things to cook
I love to be creative when I am creating my meals. I hardly ever use a recipe or measure out my ingredients when creating something to eat or drink. I love to slow cook my foods. Using a crockpot brings out the wonderful flavors of the meat and ingredients. I've never had anything burn or dry out in one.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Ever since, I was 8 yrs old I have baked christmas cookies to share with my family and friends. I don't make an apple box amount like I did back then. It was a gift back when I was young for my grand parents, aunts and uncles, cousins that lived on the other side of the mountain. *I treasure those days.*
My cooking triumphs
I cooked my very first Thanksgiving dinner when I was 14 yrs old. My mom told me the night before the holiday to follow her recipe and do exactly as she says and it will turn out perfect. It did! I was so very surprised and happy. I cooked a complete dinner with all the trimmings and everything you can imagine that goes with a Thanksgiving dinner. I had the table set with food on the table set for 13 people at 5pm. My parents were very proud of me.
My cooking tragedies
I was frying bacon on the stove and had forgotten about it, because I was arguing with my sister when I was very young. The hot grease caught fire and was like a torch with flames shooting up. My sister saw it and we covered it with a lid and carried it outside and let it cool down in the yard. I had a black circle from the smoke on the ceiling to clean before my mom came home and seen it. Since then I pay attention to whatever I cook.

Apple Enchiladas
I made this for our family potluck and everyone loved it. I served it warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream with it. Oh so very good! :D

German Pancake
This recipe brought back my childhood memories. I love this recipe! I don't use syrup on it. Instead, I sprinkled confection sugar on it and squeeze lemon juice over it. (Not too much ~ it'll make it soggy.) It's simply divine . . . mmmm . . . Karen:)
