About this Cook
Hi! I'm an over 40 mom of a three year old, wife for twenty years now, professional photographer who loves to cook.
My favorite things to cook
I like family meal type cooking, things likely not so good for you. Red meat, lots of rich cream sauces and such. But I'm working on healthier versions, more vegetarian dishes and learning more exotic dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in an Irish/Italian kitchen so those are high on my list. Every year I make a corned beef and cabbage for St. Pat's. And every winter I put up a huge stockpot of chilli and spagetti.
My cooking triumphs
My husband begs for my pecan pie every holiday and special occassion so that would have to be top of the list. I am pretty handy with the family recipes but the best received is lasagne.
My cooking tragedies
The one I remember best is when I was six or seven I made Mothers Day breakfast. Pancakes, bacon, fresh fruit. My grandmother supervised but didn't catch that since we were out of syrup I substituted a generous serving of molasses. My mom, bless her, ate every bite anyway.

Hawaiian Wedding Cake I
This tasted very good but was a much denser cake than I anticipated.

Sweet Potato Casserole IV
Great recipe, well received. I ran out of the 'topping' though, only covered about 3/4 of the casserole.

Pork Chops Over Rice
Hubby LOVED this, I added a small can of pineapple chunks, substituted the liquid for the 1/2 cup of water and used some onion and garlic powder as well.
