About this Cook
i'm weird.
My favorite things to cook
everything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
thanksgiving is a big deal in my family. we get together and spend the whole day in the kitchen. i love it, i consider thanksgiving to be my personal olympics.
My cooking triumphs
one thing i make that always turns out beautifully is my cheesecake. it's fabulous and delicious and probably something 1200 calories a serving.
My cooking tragedies
omg, i made lemon meringue pie for a friends birthday. i was worried about the meringue but totally confident about the lemon part. i noticed that the pie still seemed wiggly when i took it out but i followed the recipe to the letter (something i rarely do) so i figured it just had to chill to set. yeah, when i took out the pie to cut my friend a slice the meringue held up but the lemon oozed everywhere. it was a disaster, a huge mess. i'm not trying it again any time soon.

Campbell's(R) Green Bean Casserole
i love green bean casserole but i have never made it the way you're actually supposed to. i tried it for thanksgiving last year and ended up having to throw most of it out because the soy sauce made it taste kind of funny and no one ate it. this year i've decided to try one can cream of mushroom with roasted garlic, one can cream of cheese, and one can regular cream of mushroom. i will omit the soy sauce and opt for fresh herbs for flavor instead. we'll see how it turns out.

Easy Orange Rolls
i have never made your version of this recipe but i agree its awesome. my mother has been making a version of this for my whole life. she doesn't use orange juice in hers and only melts a stick of butter. she dips two tubes of refrigerator biscuits in the butter, and rolls them in a mixture of sugar and grated orange peel. i'm going to try your version next time i get biscuits, the addition of orange juice sounds delicious.

Real Southern Cornbread
this recipe is awesome and i've made it before but last night i decided to switch it up a little bit. instead of using 4 cups buttermilk i did 2 cups, plus one 14.75 oz. can of creamed corn and threw in about 1/2 a cup shredded cheddar cheese. all i have to say is this, i have never had cornbread that moist before in my life.
