I'm studying in Germany as an exchange student and food has become more important to me than ever, because now whenever I cook it reminds me of home, and comforts me when I'm so far away.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook vegetarian fare, like black bean lasagna, and I love making pumpkin soup when it gets cold outside. On the other end of the health spectrum, my other passion is dessert...I love to bake anything with white chocolate and am especially fond of bread pudding.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Thursday the a group of us international students holds a dinner party and we take turns making dishes from our home country.
My cooking triumphs
There is actually a Starbucks here in Heidelberg, and I always go there to get white hot chocolate. Last week I made it from scratch myself and served it to my friends. No need for any more trips to the coffeehouse now!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I ever made lasagna, I layered it all wrong, with the meat and cheese on the bottom, then the noodles. It was a complete mess to get out of the pan. I was entertaining friends as I did it, so I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to my cooking.
