About this Cook
I am a high school junior of Gaelo-Nordic heritage (meaning I'm descended from Celts AND Vikings! Yah-boo!) I found the Hobbies selection to be very disappointing, as it did not include theatre, writing stories, belly dancing, classic British TV, or Lord of the Rings (the name "Bassoneth" is Elvish for "bread-giver"). I also have a dog. Looking at the clock, it is now exactly 2:14 AM, which may explain why I am finding it so difficult to write anything that makes sense.
My favorite things to cook
Definitely bread. Homemade bread tastes better than any other store-bought kind, and it makes the house smell really good!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom makes chocolate pies and pecan pies every year for Thanksgiving, and eggnog every Christmas. And, of course, there are the obligatory Christmas cookies.
My cooking triumphs
I recently made challah for one of my Jewish friends. I'd never made it before, and had no idea what to expect. I got really frustrated with the dough and I was on the point of throwing it out, but in the end it turned out MARVELOUS.
My cooking tragedies
That doggone almond tea bread. It sounded so good in the recipe book, but when I made it, it turned out so slimy and disgusting that I couldn't even look at it without wanting to throw up.
