My 16 year-old sister and I share this account. Although I'm the main one that uses it.
I am a homeschooled, Chirstian 13 year-old girl who LOVES to cook and share what I cook with my family and friends. Besides cooking I enjoy bee-keeping (even though I'm not fond of bees!), writing, math, science and playing basketball. If I not doing school or cooking, you'd most likely find me out on the court. My three sisters and brother will eat almost anything I cook(especially my cookie dough). I have learned what I know about cooking from my Dad, as well as just trying things and seeing how they turn out. My Mom will cook, but doesn't enjoy it very much, and is always happy when I volunteer to make dinner. I'm always looking for an opportunity to cook, no matter what the desire or need may be.
My favorite things to cook
I'll cook anything in a heartbeat, but I especially enjoy baking and making anything unhealthy\deserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas my family and I make cookie plates for all our friends. We make gingerbread cookies, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles and various other kinds. The process gets bigger every year, so I got to help out more this year. YEA :D!
My cooking triumphs
A cooking success to me is when I make something that doesn't burn, isn't overcooked or everyone enjoys eating. I have succeeded in making a cheesecake for my Dad's birthday (even though it was a little crispy around the edges). As well as stovetop peanut brittle for my Grandmother. I also recently succeeded in making some fantastic caramels. Everyone who tried them wanted more! It's always very exciting for me when people enjoy eating what I make and ask me to make it again.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't had anything too major, but my worst ones have been my attempts to make fudge. I have tried different recipes several times, and it ALWAYS turns out as this weird dusty consistency. Oh well, not everything turns out perfectly. I often have to remind myself that I have no reason to be annoyed. For it's still the day that the Lord has made, and I should rejoice and be glad in it, no matter the outcome of what I cook. There is so much to be thankful for. God bless you!
