About this Cook
I live very close to NYC, so I often try out new restaurants. I enjoy exploring the city and traveling abroad. I love the arts, whether it's the fine arts or culinary arts.
My favorite things to cook
I normally cook Latino style meals, such as island food- Puerto Rico. I also make a Coco Flan de Queso, but I refuse to share this recipe that took me awhile to perfect. Holiday favorite in my family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year me and my mom start our tradition of preparing the "pasteles", which is a traditional Puerto Rican dish. It's sort of like a filled croquette, made out of plantains and yucca stuffed with meat, wrapped in a banana leaf and boiled till firm. She also makes the best "arroz con dulce" dessert, which is a coconut rice pudding with raisins and spices.
My cooking triumphs
Perfecting my Coco Flan de Queso. It's so perfected that I make other flavors such as Pumpkin, and Vanilla. It's a labor of love and goes straight to your hips, but so worth a slice. Also my Pulpo Ceviche (octopus)....fresh cilantro always makes the difference.
My cooking tragedies
Trying to make macaroons, they were hard enough to beat someone over the head.

Italian Anisette Cookies
These were fun and easy to make. I helped bake quite a few cookies with my 13year old neice, who gave these out as gifts. These anisette are light and moist.
