About this Cook
I am a new grandma! One born 12/11, the other on it's way in May. I have a husband and two grown kids. Cooking for two is hard (variety and healthy trips me up), but I love to create things for parties and have a few "specialties" that people seem to request a lot.
My favorite things to cook
Party stuff. I hate cooking for two, but love cooking for a crowd
My favorite family cooking traditions
Polish food at Christmas. We lost my mom this past Christmas. Her and I would always get together and make cabbage rolls and pierogies, pickled eggs and beets. Not sure if I will continue the tradition without er - might move it to Easter. Too sad
My cooking triumphs
New York Style Cheesecake. Made a ton of them and sold while I was in college - paid for books! Also could never make gravy the way Mom did. Then I discovered the RUE! I can make awesome gravy now.
My cooking tragedies
Veal parmesan....made it over 25 years ago and it flopped...haven't tried it since.

Stuffed Pea Pods
I made these for my "sweet pea" baby shower. Prepped pods as directed and between prepping, soaking and filling - I had at least 3 hours in this! Wasn't worth the time and for a 30 person shower (double batch) and folks didn't really like them - had a ton left over. Might be okay for a smaller shower.

Party Punch IX
I made a double batch with Lime and Lemon jello. I wanted it green for a sweet pea baby shower theme. It was a mess putting it in the freezer bags (make sure you DOUBLE bag), but it was great making it at the shower and everyone loved it. I had 30 people and with a double batch - I had none left! None of the other drinks were touched. Big hit!

Bacon Ranch Pea Salad
This was a great addition to my "sweet pea baby shower" menu. Everyone loved it and my mother-in-law requested that I bring for Easter. I made a double batch and used ranch dressing mix. The mix called for 1 cup mayo and 1 cup milk. I added 1/2 C sour cream to the dressing and it made it even better!
