About this Cook
My mother and I moved to Georgia to be close to one of my sisters.I was 13 and Mama had end-stage uterine cancer and heart failure. She wanted me to be near one of my sisters in case she passed while I still was a minor.Well, she stayed living long enough to see me married, then almost 6 mos after I was married, while I was 7 mos pregnant,She finally answered God's call. I happened to have bad taste in men. After 2 kids, and 5 years of watching him drink his money away, with me working in a clothing factory barely paying the bills out of my pay,I'd had enough.I'd been divorced about a year and a half when I met the man that I've been married to for the last 27 yrs. I have always loved to cook (I'd watch Mama cooking way back when I was 5-6 yrs old)and if there was a church supper, bake sale, cake raffle at a school fair, family reunion,or a pot-luck Thanksgiving or Christmas family dinner, then I was there with my goodies!I am now a retired schoolbus driver, and my husband retired from driving OT

Cornbreads of all kinds, cakes of all kinds (especially Red Velvet cake!), cookies, greens - I just love greens, side dishes, especially if they're made with fresh, in season vegetables or fruits. My husband is 'Master of the Grill'! He loves to grill so much that last winter he actually fired up the grill to grill some rib eye steaks, grilled squash, potatoes, yellow sweet peppers, apples, and some cheese grits. Now, I know the last seems to be impossible but when you make too many grits, you pour them into a loaf pan and they will harden up a bit. Then you take them out of the pan just like a cake and slice them about 1/4 inch slices. Normally you fry them, but he puts a sheet of tinfoil on the grill, after he sprays some Pam on it, he pokes some holes in it and lays it out on a part of the grill. Oh, they're good! I'd rather eat grilled grits than fried any day. Also, they don't have
