About this Cook
I'm a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist who practices mainly Cranio Sacral Therapy. I am very blessed to be able to make my own schedule so I can spend as much time with my family as possible, and still have an income. I have 2 biological children, (ages boy-10 and girl-6) and 2 step sons (ages 16 & 13), who are as much my children as my own. I just got married April 4, 2009 and love my husband and kids more than words! I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful family. I dearly love to be in the kitchen and cooking for my family, and my hubby, who is a fireman....one of my favorite things is bringing food to the station while he's on duty...I began cooking when I was very small with my Grandma, she taught me just about everything I know, and my Mom too, she is an excellent cook and I enjoy bouncing recipes off her as well. I love learning new ways to cook, new recipes to collect and keeping with family traditions...
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking meals that are healthy, yet flavorful and fast for the most part, I do have 4 kids and a very busy family! I enjoy crock pot meals, and am always up for trying something new...I seem to lean towards the southern ways of cooking, which can be full of flavor, but not always the healthiest with all the butter! I love to bake and make desserts...and my kids are quite fond of my cookies!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I cook like my Grandma did (she's been passed away for about 18 years now) which is by taste...I don't measure much, mostly eyeball the ingredients and use the recipe as a guide, I hardly ever follow one word for word...Thankfully things turn out and I think it encourages me to keep experimenting and modifying recipes so my family will enjoy them....
My cooking triumphs
I don't know really....my husband loves my apple pie...and requests that I bring it to the station often...I'm not really sure I've had any true "triumphs" though....
My cooking tragedies
Thankfully not too many of theses either...I've had things spill over in the oven once or twice...and of course I've burnt the chicken on the grill....I'm not sure there are many cooks who haven't experienced that though....LOL

Lemon Zucchini Bread
I thought it was good, but the family didn't....I subbed 1/2 c of applesauce as other users did, and 1/4 c of oil....used whole wheat flour and it was very tasty! The family didn't care for it though....

Heavenly White Cake
Cake was good, used for Kiel's birthday cake. It was a little dry, but had a good flavor. I topped with fudge frosting.
