I am a happily married woman with many diverse interests. I like to do all sorts of things and will try anything except extreme sports. Cooking is not a hobby of mine as my husband is quite the expert in the kitchen. I do like to search recipes and find something new to try as I get tired of feeling like we cook the same things every day.
My favorite things to cook
I suppose my favorite is manicotti and vegetable pizza. I use the vegetable pizza to replace the bread and salad. I like fixing something called "cowpot" This is probably not spelled correctly as it is a Thai food that my brother-in-law learned while stationed in Thailand, but it is most delicious and easy to fix.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I suppose that cooking for Thanksgiving and Christmas are traditions that I enjoy most. For Thanksgiving we have the traditional Thanksgiving feast complete with turkey, dressing, pumpkin pie, green bean casserole. I also top it off with either a macaroni salad or potato salad although some people consider this a "picnic" food. Guess that's what you get when your grandparents immigrated from Russia. :)
My cooking triumphs
I usually succeed at everything I cook because I like to try to prepare ahead and not be too stressed when putting a big spread together.
My cooking tragedies
Probably the very first thing I ever cooked. I was newly married and had never cooked in my life. So I burnt the chicken and the potatoes were lumpy. After that I was determined to "beat" this whole cooking thing.
