About this Cook
I'm the eldest of five, meaning I have played the cook much of my life. Whether it be Dinner or a cooking experience for my youngest siblings, I have always enjoyed cooking! I was raised in the North now living down South, I have picked up a lot of different styles of cooking and new foods. I was a strict vegetarian for 4+ years, but jumped back into the white meats just recently. Away from the food for a moment, I am 20 years old I love artsy things, music, movies, books, and anything else you may associate with the age-group. I love animals, photography, nature, gardening and hope to become an elementary school teacher.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make desserts. I worked at a Baskin Robins for a year or so, and that really sparked my interest. I learned to make icecream cakes while I was there, and really enjoy the process of creating beautifully presented foods. I also like to cook elaborate dinners (not that it is always a success). I am also enjoying the process of making different breads. Still figuring out what it is that qualifies as a favorite thing to cook! :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have this AMAZING recipe in our family for the best deep dish pizza ever. In Chicago, deep-dish is everywhere but I have found that here in Texas, it's a lost concept. Everyone that gives it a try is instantly hooked! Also, my Grandma's recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies is amazing. She had to change up the recipe after we found out my young cousin has an allergy to 25% of the ingredients that make up the recipe. I like to make the traditional recipe at home though. Also, Yuuuumm, our Chocolate Torte is to DIE for! Still working on perfecting that.

Cheddar Baked Chicken
This reminds me a bit of a shake&bake recipe. It was really easy and I must admit, the texture makes it so delicious. I definitely think I will need to make this with my 9 year old brother when he comes to visit this week. No doubt he'd get a kick out of chicken with rice crispies!

Lemon-Pepper Salmon II
This recipe was absolutely delicious! My boyfriend and I tried it out the last night, and it was a definite winner. We made a few adjustments to the baste and broiling method as was suggested by others. We added 1 tsp of brown sugar, chopped parsley, and a dash of olive oil to help thicken the baste so it clung to fillet better. We applied the baste to one side and sprinkled on the lemon-pepper, broiled for four minutes and turned the fillets over (with a spatula, preferably due to the tendency of the fillet to break apart). Basted the other side, sprinkled evenly with lemon-pepper and cooked for the remaining four minutes. Which helped a lot with the "burning" that was mentioned in some other reviews. It was a definite success. Very easy, very quick, yet it seems so upscale. Thinking of making this for my Father and Brothers when they come home from vacation.
