About this Cook
I have a wonderful husband who enjoys his food, a teenage daughter who doesn't so much. I am a small animal veterinarian, enjoy gardening and making a welcoming home for my family.
My favorite things to cook
Love baking - pies, cakes, cookies, special desserts. Not so great in the art of decorating the masterpieces, but that's ok. Comfort food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays, baking. Never liked food too much as a kid - I was a very picky stick figured child.
My cooking triumphs
My apple crumb pie and peach pies, fruit crisps, bavarian apple torte, over the top decadent chocolate cake. Soups, stews, comfort foods. My DD loves homemade mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, ham dinners and casseroles.
My cooking tragedies
The oven in our house is very strange, and someday must be replaced, so cooking a nice roast, everything is ready - but the meat takes like an extra 45 minutes. Once DH decided to finish the roast on the grill - ended up with charred outside, undercooked inside. So he went out and got a rotisserie chicken from the groc store.

Cracked Sugar Cookies I
These are really good, made from scratch but easy to make cookies! I bake a lot of cookies, and these did not disappoint! I rolled some in sugar, some in sugar/cinnamon/dash nutmeg. (I used margarine - what I had on hand) The options are endless! Thanks for the great recipe, Pam. A keeper.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
I have made this recipe for years, in fact just made it today! It is a great recipe, except I use 3 small loaf pans or 2 reg sized loaf pans and a muffin tin because there is so much batter it bakes better this way for me. Great to freeze and slice then how much you'd like. I do this in the cooler seasons each year for my daughter's breakfasts.

Chicken Alfredo
My picky teen liked it. I just diced some fresh tomato over my husband's and mine. Made it like the recipe, otherwise. Added a little more milk to hubby's so it wouldn't be too thick for him. Good recipe! a keeper!
